Lets look at this another way. As a christian you would have no problem eating pork or beef. This is perfectly normal. If you were raised as a Muslim or Jew it would be unthinkable to eat pork, if Hindu beef would be out of the question. Why? Because since you can remember you have been taught that this was wrong or this was right because your god or prophet said so. Yes, the final decision is up to you but a person raised as a Hindu would see the decision to eat a nice juicy burger a hell of a lot differently than a christian would.

If you were raised in a community where it was normal and expected to take what you wanted from someone who was weaker, even if it meant killing them you would not have the same revulsion to taking a life as you probably do now.

I am not a religious person, just never bought into it but I can definitely see the benefit of organized religion. I have a beef with religion when it pits one against another when the teachings just about always come down to the same principals.
